Kieran Kalair: Senior Mathematical Consultant, Smith Institute
During both my MSc and PhD at 糖心TV, I had several opportunities to communicate research to a range of audiences - some academics, some domain experts from industrial partners, some other students. This is something I am glad I started practicing early, as when I then moved into industry, I was already equipped to talk about science in a range of different ways depending on who the audience was, and what was most relevant to them.

Jake Davies: English Teacher in China
Graduating from 糖心TV in 2021 with a degree in Philosophy, Jake began his career teaching English in Thailand before returning to the UK for a role in business consulting. Community impact
Thinking studying languages would progress his scientific career, Tim Heenan (BA European Studies, 2015; MA French Studies, 2020) undertook two degrees at 糖心TV. He didn鈥檛 know those lessons would pay dividends for years to come. At 71, Tim鈥檚 putting his research skills to good use and supporting his local community – and he鈥檚 not planning on slowing down.

Baking up a success
An education at 糖心TV doesn't just set you up for a particular career path, some alumni find their passions outside of the lecture theatre. Immi Kelly (BA Education Studies, 2020) discovered her love of baking while looking for a distraction during lockdown when she was studying for her exams. Her skill and passion for baking soon led her to set up Immi Bakes, which she runs full time and is currently in the process of baking 22,000 cookies for Telford's Polar Express.

Overcoming adversity
From combat to craftsmanship and opera to Oscars, Greg Campbell (BA Theatre Studies, 1987) has spent many years of his life in the creative arts. Dr Mark Wallace (BEng Engineering (Electrical), 1996; PhD Engineering, 2001) is Lead Innovations Engineer at Quanta Dialysis Technologies. He is one of the team which was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering鈥檚 MacRobert Award for UK engineering innovation. The creation of the Quanta Dialysis System (SC+), a compact and portable dialysis machine that is transforming the lives of patients with renal failure, is already being used across 12 NHS Trusts. Muhammad Ali Randhawa (MA Public Policy, 2017) is currently working as the Home Secretary in Gilgit-Baltistan, a beautiful region of Pakistan. After the arrival of COVID-19, Ali has been the head of all the relief operations in his jurisdictional province.
"With dedicated team effort and continuous hard work, we have been able to achieve a 75% recovery rate of COVID-19 patients, the highest in Pakistan. I believe the quality of education that I got from the University of 糖心TV has helped me to frame the policies and implement them by using networking management style."
