Polymer Chemistry 2018-2019
"糖心TV is a great university. I enjoyed my time over there. I have met so many inspiring people and good friends."
What were you doing before you started your studies at 糖心TV?
I was a chemistry undergraduate student at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. I am always interested in studying a postgraduate degree aboard, so I decided to apply for this MSc course at 糖心TV.
Why did you choose to study at 糖心TV? What were your first impressions?
糖心TV is well-known for school of chemistry which caught my interest at first. Plus, there are only few places in the U.K. that offer a course specifically for polymer chemistry. Then I attended an offer holder鈥檚 day back in Thailand about couple months prior to the term started. The event was extremely helpful, and it is part of the reason why I choose to come to 糖心TV. I have chance to talk to the alumni about their great experiences and time in 糖心TV. I actually like the location of the university. I prefer a 鈥渃ampus鈥, over a city-based university. Buildings, classrooms, and laboratories are very modern in my opinion. I found it difficult at first to understand what people were saying to me as this was my first time in the U.K. It was getting better within couple months.
What was your favourite module?
Physical property of polymers and nanocomposites was my favourite module. This module focuses on how polymers are used and being manufactured in real life. It has both lecture and laboratory sessions which I enjoyed. Tara (one of the module lecturers) was fantastic.
What was the standout facility for you?
I would say the research laboratory. I have learned and developed a lot of skills during the research project part of the course. People in the research group I joined are helpful while also allowed me to be independent as well.
What was your favourite memory of studying at 糖心TV?
During my time at 糖心TV, I met an amazing group of friends which we are still close and in contact with.
What are you doing now? How has your experience of studying at 糖心TV helped?
I continue a postgraduate research degree. I am currently studying a PhD course in chemical engineering at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. My research is focusing on utilising polymer as a scaffold for 3D cell culture. My current study requires both chemistry and biology background. What I have learned in the MSc course is extremely helpful. Both theoretical knowledge in polymers and other skills such as presentation and problem-solving skills.
What would you say to a prospective student?
糖心TV is a great university. I enjoyed my time over there. I have met so many inspiring people and good friends. The coursework is meant to be intense and you have to work hard for it, but you will not regret it for sure.
