The Royal Society, in partnership with the Wolfson Foundation and the Department of 糖心TV, Energy and Industrial Strategy, invites nominations for the Wolfson research merit awards. These enable universities to recruit, or keep in the UK, researchers in all areas of the life and physical sciences, including engineering. Researchers of any nationality who hold or have received a firm offer for a permanent post at a UK university may be nominated. Awards are made to the university and researchers must remain at the university named on the application. Awards include salary enhancement worth between 拢10,000 to 拢30,000 per year over a maximum period of five years. Research expenses may be considered for overseas researchers to support integration into the UK research environment. |

2-Stage call The European Commission Horizon 2020: Industrial Leadership, under the leadership in enabling and industrial technologies – nanotechnologies, advanced materials, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing and processing work programme, invites proposals for its H2020-NMBP-ST-IND-2018 industrial sustainability call. This supports projects that further strengthen the global leadership of Europe鈥檚 industry in environmental sustainability, through a combination of mature and disruptive technologies. Proposals may address the following topics within catalysing the circular economy, clean energy through innovative materials and cultural heritage: 鈥E-NMBP-24-2018 catalytic transformation of hydrocarbons; 鈥E-NMBP-26-2018 smart plastic materials with intrinsic recycling properties by design; 鈥C-NMBP-30-2018 materials for future highly performant electrified vehicle batteries; 鈥MBP-33-2018 innovative and affordable solutions for the preventive conservation of cultural heritage. Proposals may take the form of research and innovation actions or innovation actions, depending on the topic addressed. Research and innovation actions and innovation actions require participation by at least three legal entities; each established in a different EU member state or Horizon 2020 associated country. Legal entities established in a third country, who secure their own funding, may be included in the consortia. Each successful proposal is expected to receive between 鈧�4 million and 鈧�8m, although proposals for other amounts will also be considered. The total indicative budget for this call is worth 鈧�79m. |

This supports projects that lay the foundations for tomorrow鈥檚 industry in Europe and create jobs and growth through an innovation ecosystem for the design, development, testing, and upscaling of advanced materials and nanotechnologies. Proposals may address the following topics within materials characterisation and computational modelling, and governance, science-based risk assessment and regulatory aspects: 鈥T-NMBP-07-2018 open innovation test beds for characterisation; 鈥T-NMBP-09-2018 accelerating the uptake of materials modelling software; 鈥MBP-13-2018 risk governance of nanotechnology; 鈥MBP-14-2018 nanoinformatics – from materials models to predictive toxicology and ecotoxicology. Proposals may take the form of research and innovation actions or innovation actions, depending on the topic addressed. Research and innovation actions and innovation actions require participation by at least three legal entities; each established in a different EU member state or Horizon 2020 associated country.
