Bigpicture Annual Meeting

The Bigpicture project is an initiative aimed at transforming the field of pathology through the creation of a comprehensive, high-quality digital repository of three million pathology images. Funded by the EU Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), Bigpicture brings together a consortium of leading academic institutions, research organisations, and industry partners from across Europe and beyond. The project’s mission is to develop an open-access platform that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyse vast amounts of pathology data, advancing research, diagnostics, and treatment in healthcare. By fostering collaboration and innovation, Bigpicture envisions a future where digital pathology becomes a cornerstone of precision medicine, enabling faster, more accurate diagnoses and personalised patient care. Successful Grant for NPC Research Collaboration with Malaysia

We are excited to announce our successful grant application through the British Council's ISPF Research Collaboration for the project "Development of Diagnosis and Prognosis Model Using Whole Slide Images (WSI)-Based Biomarkers for Personalised Treatment in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma."

Insights from the Oral Epithelial Dysplasia (OED) Workshop: Sheffield, November 2024

The recent Oral Epithelial Dysplasia (OED) Workshop, held at The Edge in Sheffield on 18 November 2024, marked a significant milestone for the ANTICIPATE project. Since its inception in 2020, this Cancer Research UK (CRUK)-funded collaboration between the TIA Centre at ÌÇÐÄTV and the Neopath team at Sheffield has aimed to revolutionise the grading of OED. By leveraging AI-based tools, the project has sought to refine grading methodologies while uncovering novel biomarkers to improve clinical outcomes.

AI research at the University of ÌÇÐÄTV will speed up colon cancer diagnoses, thanks to a £2.6m grant!

A new study at the University of ÌÇÐÄTV, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) will shed light on how AI can transform colon biopsy screening – streamlining diagnoses and helping to ease the pressure on NHS histopathology resources. The research will involve data from 10 NHS hospitals across the UK and more than 10,000 biopsy samples.

ÌÇÐÄTV TIA to participate in the €70M BIGPICTURE consortium

The ÌÇÐÄTV TIA team represented by Prof Nasir Rajpoot and Dr Shan Raza are delighted to be part of the EU-wide €70M BIGPICTURE project.

Goal

To take AI development in pathology to the next level, a European consortium combining leading European research centres, hospitals as well as major pharmaceutical industries, is going to develop a repository for the sharing of pathology data. The 6-year, €70M project called , will herald a new era in pathology.

PathLAKE Plus £13.5 million funding: Press release

We are excited to announce that PathLAKE has received funding of £13.5 million towards the PathLAKE Centre of Excellence!

Cancer Research Award UK

We are delighted to announce the award of a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Early Detection grant in the amount of £406K to Dr Ali Khurram (Sheffield University) and Prof Nasir Rajpoot for research on developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to predict malignant transformation of oral epithelial dysplasia.
