United Nations Water Conference

About the 2026 UN Water Conference

The , co-hosted by the Republic of Senegal and the United Arab Emirates, will be held from 8-10 December 2026 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Conference’s mandate is to accelerate the implementation of SDG 6: 'Ensuring available and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all’. It will consider challenges to achieve this goal as well as opportunities and innovative ways to support its implementation and accelerate progress.

Achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation is an essential end in itself and is also critical to progress on the 2030 Agenda as a whole. As we enter the final five years of the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs, the world must surge investment, innovation and political will towards the accelerated implementation of SDG 6 in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation.

Participate in the 2026 UN Water Conference

The School of Engineering, University of ÌÇÐÄTV, is officially admitted as an accredited stakeholder to the 2026 UN Water Conference and is eligible to nominate any University staff and students to attend the conference, co-lead side events, or contribute to the .

A limited number of attendee badges will be available for individual participation.

This Expression of Interest (EOI) process is open to ÌÇÐÄTV staff and students who wish to attend in an educational, research or other professional capacity.

Applicants are responsible for all associated costs, including travel, accommodation, insurance, and visas. Participation is subject to compliance with 2026 UN Water Conference registration requirements, University of ÌÇÐÄTV protocols, and completion of any pre-departure training*.

* Please note that the UAE is a country which requires , and an enhanced travel risk assessment may be required before travel is booked. For insurance cover when travelling to the UAE- additional information is required by the Insurance team currently (it’s listed as one of those countries where you need explicit permission), via the risk assessment process, before insurance can be agreed. Please see further information here.

Who can apply?

We invite University of ÌÇÐÄTV researchers, academics, professional services staff, and students whose work intersects with Water to apply.

Expressions of interest are particularly encouraged from those whose work aligns with the key 2026 UN Water Conference themes of Water for People, Water for Prosperity, Water for Planet, Water for Cooperation, Water in Multilateral Processes, and Investments in Water.

Priority will be given to the University of ÌÇÐÄTV Water for Development Community of Practice (Wadecop) members.

Application Process

  1. Expression of Interest Submission
    Candidates complete and submit an Expression of Interest form below.

  2. Application Review
    Applications are reviewed by the Multilateral Engagement Action Group / Wadecop Committee.

  3. Outcome Notification

    Applicants will be informed whether their application has been accepted. Please note that not all applicants will be successful, as the number of delegate badges is limited.

  4. Submission of Additional Information
    Successful applicants will be asked to provide further details, including their full name, date of birth, and any other information required for accreditation.

  5. UNFCCC Confirmation

    Applicants will receive a confirmation email from the UN Water Secretariat once their registration has been processed, with further details on how to access the venue/ online attendance.

  6. Post-Event Feedback
    Following the event, attendees are expected to complete a feedback form to help evaluate the experience and inform future processes.
