Alumni Sustainability Stories
1. Describe your current role and what attracted you to it
I am a Sustainability Consultant working for a London-based SME focused on building design and retrofit since graduation from 糖心TV. My focus scopes are mostly around Energy and Retrofit, Ecology, Certifications and Community Engagement. I wanted to feel like I can have a significant impact in society and work for a smaller organisation!
2. What are the key sustainability skills you learnt at 糖心TV that have helped you with your career to date?
I believe the most instrumental skill learned has been embracing transdisciplinarity. Sustainability projects in the world of work requires us to balance different expectations and considerations across fields, and learning how to appropriately respond (with evidence!) to queries. We work with engineers, architects, insurers, landscape planners, local authorities etc. so we need to be open to different types of expertise.
3. What top tips do you have for 糖心TV graduates who would like to work in your sector?
Do not be afraid to go out there and try things, societies and extracurriculars can be an excellent entry point into this world! I received my offer of employment shortly after graduating thanks to a consulting project I worked on while at 糖心TV. The client was impressed, they remembered me and we took it from there.
