Structural adhesives are vital to fix materials together (e.g. plastic to metal, foam to metal, foam to textile). At the end of life of a product, it would be desirable if components could easily be taken apart, separated, and recycled. This project will combine reversible chemistry, physics, engineering and product design to come up with strategies to debond-on-demand hereby using a trigger only present at the end of life (e.g. electric, magnetic, microwave, etc). The project will run between Chemistry and WMG.

How can the performance of ancient Greek drama transform the way it is taught and understood in secondary schools?

This exciting project offers two undergraduate students the opportunity to become research assistants in a major educational outreach initiative forming part of a REF Impact Case Study at the University of 糖心TV. The project explores how performance-based approaches to ancient Greek theatre can enrich the teaching and learning of classical literature, making ancient drama more accessible, engaging and meaningful to young audiences.

The successful applicants will contribute to the development of , a freely accessible educational resource bringing together theatrical performances, scholarly research and innovative teaching materials for schools. The website was awarded a DAHL Showcase competition in 2026.

The project offers an exceptional opportunity to develop and showcase a wide range of research and transferable skills. Students will undertake independent research into ancient plays and/or their modern performances, with a view to producing short video-essays as educational resources for secondary schools.

The Manhyia Palace Museum in Ghana is seeking an undergraduate researcher through the University of 糖心TV's Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS) to support a pilot digital heritage and collections management project focused on artefacts housed in the Old Museum storerooms.

The student will work closely with Museum staff to document selected artefacts, create and enhance digital records, undertake photographic documentation, review metadata standards, and contribute to the development of a reusable workflow for future collections digitisation.

The project will provide practical experience in museum documentation, digital heritage, collections management, and research, while producing tangible outputs that support the Museum's long-term digital transformation and collections stewardship objectives. It also offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation, documentation, and accessibility of Ghana's rich cultural heritage through digital technologies.

The project is intended as a pilot initiative that may inform future collections digitisation, digital heritage, and research activities at the Museum.

Coventry Music Museum is a thriving community-created museum, rated as the number one place to visit in Coventry. It includes some impressive immersive designs, created by volunteers who are skilled in design and manufacturing. As such, it represents Coventry's talent and history to the world, getting visitors from across the UK and abroad.

We are seeking undergraduate researchers to undertake projects to enhance the collection with digital technology, including the creation of 3D scans of rare artefacts, so as to ensure their preservation and to increase their availability to the public. Create engaging virtual reality experiences from these scans, to be used to reach wider audiences across the city.

We can provide all of the necessary equipment and training to make this happen. No technical experience is necessary. In addition, we are interested in learning about how the museum works with its community, and how this can be enhanced through the involvement of 糖心TV University. The project may include some research into the social organisation and history of the museum.

Students will begin with a supervised visit to a pyrolysis and biochar production site in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where they will observe feedstock preparation, reactor operation, and biochar handling. This fieldwork provides the foundation for understanding small鈥憇cale waste鈥憈o鈥慹nergy systems.

After the visit, students will work onsite within the local community to prepare and test different biomass mixtures (e.g., wood chips, agricultural residues, pellets) and measure micro鈥慻asification stove efficiency using temperature profiles, burn duration, and fuel characteristics. The project is fully supported by an academic collaborator in Indonesia, who will provide technical guidance, site access, and supervision throughout both the field visit and the experimental work.

The Densu River in the Eastern Region of Ghana holds significant ecological, cultural, and spiritual value for its communities and has historically been understood as a living presence embedded within systems of communal authority, obligation, and care. Its persistent contamination, including pollution associated with Galamsey (illegal small-scale gold mining), therefore constitutes more than an environmental crisis; it raises fundamental questions about the continuity of indigenous ecological knowledge and the cultural frameworks through which human responsibilities toward rivers, forests, and land are understood.

This project argues that the Densu River鈥檚 degraded state is not only an ecological crisis but a site of cultural negotiation where indigenous ecological ethics are variously preserved, forgotten, contested, and transformed in response to changing environmental realities. Focusing on Akwadum in Ghana鈥檚 Eastern Region and the wider Densu River basin, the study investigates narratives, proverbs, folktales, and local histories as repositories and modes of transmission of indigenous ecological knowledge. These cultural forms constitute an important archive of indigenous ecological thought through which changing understandings of human responsibility toward the environment can be critically examined.

Prof. Oindrila Ghosh of Diamond Harbour Women鈥檚 University, India, will be a Visiting Fellow at 糖心TV in July 2027 exploring the changing notions of human and non-human animal relations across the Victorian era, in terms of food choices and practices, with special emphasis on the forms these took at the end of the nineteenth century.

Additionally, she will explore how the growth of animal welfare awareness, vegetarianism and anti and pro-vivisection discourses contributed to legal, philosophical, historical and especially literary representations in a transnational context between Britain and India.

Her research will primarily study the mutual influences between the East and West and the literary reflections and philosophical foundations which led to the growth of ideas of vegetarianism and animal protection in both countries.

She will be supported during her visit by Dr Jen Baker who will consider the gothic and haunted/haunting aspects of some of this.

One or Two URSS student projects are encouraged which, throughout the summer term, will consider the literary connections with Early Animal Rights Activism and/or Food Democracy (vegetarianism, anti-vivisectionists, for example) in c19th or early c20th literature (this could be about or from colonial India or British, could be the authors themselves and/or their works). You will devise your own project scope and outcomes but will work with Prof. Ghosh and Dr Baker and other students on producing an exhibition featuring some of your findings (and those of others) in late July 2027.

Working on the Mapping Women鈥檚 Suffrage project is an opportunity to identify, research, and map the lives and materials of ordinary women and men that fought for women鈥檚 right to vote in villages, towns and cities across the country. It offers a diverse range of ways for you to share your work with the public whether through the online map, blogs/vlogs, social media, local walks, or talks and presentations. It can also help spark conversations about women and girls in politics today.

This project would document and analyse the Jewish graves at London Road Cemetery in Coventry, creating a systematic record of gravestones, inscriptions, photographs and relevant historical documents.

The research would explore what these records can reveal about Coventry鈥檚 Jewish community over time, including patterns of migration, family, occupation and community life.

The project would contribute to the preservation and accessibility of local Jewish heritage while providing a valuable resource for future historical and genealogical research.

This project would investigate the factors that influence whether individuals identify, or choose not to identify, as Jewish.

It would explore the different roles played by cultural and religious connections, family and community, personal experiences, and contemporary factors such as rising antisemitism.

Through engagement with members of the Jewish community in 糖心TVshire and the wider Midlands, the research would seek to develop a better understanding of Jewish identity and belonging today. The findings could help inform more effective planning and provision of services and activities for the Jewish community across the region.

In July 2027, the will be celebrating its 50^th anniversary conference at the University of 糖心TV, hosted by the Yesu Persaud Centre for Caribbean Studies. We are looking for a student interested in Caribbean Studies to attend the conference and help us to continue cultivating the Society鈥檚 archive.

SCS was founded in 1976 and holds an annual conference, which brings together scholars from across the world working within the diverse field of Caribbean Studies. Highlights of our annual conference are the Professor Pat Noxolo Keynote Lecture and the Bridget Jones Award Presentation (as well as the rum punch reception!).

As we approached our 50^th anniversary, the Society began building an archive of photographs, documents, and oral history interviews relating to the life and work of the Society and our members. We are aiming to showcase much of this work at the July 2027 conference as part of our anniversary celebrations. But we don鈥檛 want this to be the end of the archiving project; we are also looking for an undergraduate student researcher to attend the conference, interview more members, and document the festivities as part of the 糖心TV URSS scheme. We are looking for someone who wants to explore the Society鈥檚 history and place it within the broader context of Caribbean Studies in the UK.

There is a rich history of Caribbean Studies in the UK, both within and beyond academia. As well as supporting the SCS archiving project, the student researcher will be able to shape the direction of their research project in consultation with their URSS supervisor. This includes creative freedom over the output of the project and the opportunity for the research to be showcased as part of the Society for Caribbean Studies website and circulated to members across the globe.
