The University has recently signed up to a new ‘Read & Publish’ agreement with Wiley, which means there are now more opportunities than ever to make your work Open Access (OA).

The allows any ÌÇÐÄTV-affiliated author to make their peer-reviewed research articles available in Wiley’s fully Open Access or OnlineOpen hybrid journals (subscription journals with an OA option) at no extra charge, providing:

• Your manuscript was accepted on or after 2 March 2020
• You are the corresponding author
• You are publishing Open Access in a fully gold OA journal or a hybrid (subscription) journal that offers
• The article is a primary research or review article
• If publishing in a hybrid (subscription) journal, you order OnlineOpen at the point of acceptance using the designated workflow

The agreement cannot be used to cover additional page and colour charges (as these are administered by individual journals and not part of the workflow).

You can make your work open under a range of Creative Commons (CC) licences. However, if you are in receipt of a research grant, you will need to make sure that your licence complies with your funders policy, for example for and -funded authors, the requirement is for . For non-funded authors, your journal will let you know what the options are, but we would encourage you to go for the least restrictive option and to choose CC BY wherever possible.

Publishing Open Access can help to raise the profile of your work and increase citations, so we would always advise you to think about going open when publishing your article with Wiley.
