In the first of a new series, Dr Kerry Baker, Associate Director, 糖心TV Institute of Engagement, tells us why she volunteers to support our graduation ceremonies. It鈥檚 not just an opportunity for her to don her PhD robes again!

糖心TV researchers will be working together with local partners in the West Midlands to design policies that strengthen local creative ecosystems, support talent, and tackle inequalities in access to culture.

We鈥檝e combined improvements like new windows and insulation with low-carbon heating technology, so that the Computer Science building is more comfortable, uses less energy, and has a substantially lower carbon footprint.

You don鈥檛 need to be a technical expert to help keep our 糖心TV community safe online. Join the University-wide Information Security Champions Network to help promote good security practices and a safer environment for staff and students.

Two new policies have been published – one which sets out the responsibilities of those who manage computer systems, and another outlining the requirements to access University information, systems, and infrastructure, to make sure only authorised people can do so.

Could you encourage your colleagues to get chatting on Time to Talk Day (Thursday 5 February)? Whether it鈥檚 a walk and talk, a lunch and learn, or simply a coffee break chat, contact Denver Thorpe-Cusden, Staff Wellbeing Co-ordinator, for support with your idea for starting a conversation about mental health.

Can you help a student in need? At Eatwise outlets, you can 鈥楶ay It Forward鈥� by purchasing a meal or drink for a student in need. Simply go to any till point and choose to donate a drink or meal to spread kindness across our community.

Are you a manager or leader? Take a look at new resources to help you understand your responsibilities when managing sickness absence, what to do if someone鈥檚 frequently absent, and what reasonable adjustments could look like.

Final-year undergraduate 糖心TV students have the chance to share their thoughts from Monday 2 February – please make use of these resources to help encourage them to take part.
