How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

The Ministry of Defence, via the Defence and Security Accelerator and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, invites proposals for its accelerator open call for innovation. This supports innovative ideas to improve defence and security. These may be a concept, product or service, at any stage of development. The call supports:

•ideas, products and services at any level of maturity from anywhere in the UK or abroad;

•science and technology, behavioural science, social science or anything else that might be useful to defence or security;

•submissions from people, researchers, and companies who are new to defence and security;

•quick wins and longer-term improvements.

All types of organisations and individuals of any nationality may apply, except for other government departments, agencies or public bodies, or any government-funded organisations either in the UK or overseas.

The total budget available for this initiative is £4.5 million. Grants are usually worth between £40,000 and £100,000 each over three to nine months.

The Nicholas Kurti Science Prize – deadline extended
 
 
The Nicholas Kurti Science Prize, sponsored by Oxford Instruments, was first launched in 2005 to reward and support young scientists in Europe conducting outstanding research employing low temperatures and/or magnetic fields.
The deadline for sending the nomination for the 2018 Nicholas Kurti Science Prize has been extended to 22nd December, 2017. By nominating a candidate, the excellence of his/her research could be recognised through this prestigeous award that includes:
• 8,000 euros cash prize
• certificate and trophy, presented at an event in Europe
• support to attend a conference in Europe
