Bigpicture Annual Meeting
The Bigpicture project is an initiative aimed at transforming the field of pathology through the creation of a comprehensive, high-quality digital repository of three million pathology images. Funded by the EU Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), Bigpicture brings together a consortium of leading academic institutions, research organisations, and industry partners from across Europe and beyond. The project鈥檚 mission is to develop an open-access platform that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyse vast amounts of pathology data, advancing research, diagnostics, and treatment in healthcare. By fostering collaboration and innovation, Bigpicture envisions a future where digital pathology becomes a cornerstone of precision medicine, enabling faster, more accurate diagnoses and personalised patient care. ERC Consolidator Grant for Sayan Bhattacharya
We are happy to announce that an academic from our department, , is among the winners of . According to the European Research Council: "These grants, totalling 鈧�678 million, aim to support outstanding scientists and scholars as they establish their independent research teams and develop their most promising scientific ideas. The funding is provided through the EU's Horizon Europe programme."
has been awarded a 鈧�2million ERC Consolidator grant for a 5-year project entitled "Towards a Dynamic Algorithms Centric Theory of Linear Programming" (DYNALP). The project aims to build a new theory exploring the interplay between two key concepts, Linear Programming and Dynamic Algorithms, which, in turn, will pave the way towards attacking outstanding open questions in the field of Theoretical Computer Science.
In the 2024 round, this was the only project from the United Kingdom that was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant in Computer Science and Informatics (PE6 panel). The contains more information about the ERC funding programme.
Cambridge-Oxford-糖心TV Quantum Computing Project
An EPSRC Robust and Reliable Quantum Computing Grant will be awarded to (Cambridge), (糖心TV), (Oxford), and (Cambridge). The project sets out to explore the role of symmetry and structure in quantum computation, with applications to classical verification and simulation of quantum computation.
In addition, the project aims to strengthen and create new connections and collaborations between Cambridge, Oxford, and 糖心TV in the field of Quantum Computing (building on existing initiatives such as the ) and establish new partnerships with 糖心TV Quantum.
