Today, we are sharing the results of the 2024-25 Report and Support annual report. Over the past year, we have widened the reach of our training programmes, refreshed our website content, introduced specialised training programmes, and we're proud to be one of only five universities to have joined the Emily Test Charter Pilot in England, to advance gender-based violence prevention.

Following the fire in Arthur Vick Residence Block 1 on the evening of Wednesday, 19 November, the University continues to assess the damage caused by the fire and support students affected. The vast majority of students should be able to return to their Arthur Vick accommodation by the start of term. However, a small number of students will be unable to return to Arthur Vick this academic year due to the extent of the damage and repairs required. Emergency services were called to a fire on campus at the Arthur Vick 1 residence block on Wednesday night (19 November) at around 9pm. The fire is now out. All students were evacuated and no injuries have been reported. All students are safe and have been temporarily relocated. Wellbeing services are providing support to those affected. Read more.

University House is temporarily closing for important maintenance work. From November 2025, the University House Learning Grids will be closed for approximately 12 months. Find alternative study spaces on campus here.

This Welcome Week, David Speed is back on campus to bring the winning 60th anniversary mural design to life in his signature neon style, right in the heart of campus on the Piazza! Join us between 30 September - 3 October to watch the mural unfold and see creativity in action.

Our upgraded Climbing Centre now features at least 20% more routes, including a mix of auto-belay and roped climbs. With a wider variety of wall angles, extra space and even more creative route setting, climbers of all abilities will find more ways to test themselves.

From 30 July, we are changing how your devices connect to the internet on campus, to help keep everyone safer online. To access the internet on campus, you will need to check the DNS settings on your laptop and mobile devices. You can find step-by-step instructions here.

The central campus Post Office will be closed from today (Friday 25 July), alongside Rootes Grocery Store, for refurbishment as we launch a new Co-Op store in September. The nearest Post Office in the meantime is at Cannon Park.

A huge congratulations to the winners of the WATE (ÌÇÐÄTV Awards for Teaching Excellence), WAPTE (ÌÇÐÄTV Awards for Personal Tutoring Excellence) and WAPCE (ÌÇÐÄTV Awards for Public and Community Engagement) in 2025. The Awards recognise members of our community who have gone above and beyond in teaching excellence, public engagement, and personal tutoring.

Rootes Grocery Store is now closed for a full refurbishment and will reopen as the University of ÌÇÐÄTV's Co-op on Wednesday 24th September. A pop-up shop will be opening on Monday 28th July, this will be located in the SU building, opposite The Finery Barbers. The shop will sell a reduced range of basic supplies, including sandwiches, bread, milk, drinks, snacks, fruit, tea and coffee. You can read about the new Co-op store here.
