Vacation: Recharging and Refocusing

The vacation period is finally here. If you are balancing exam preparation and assignments with work or social commitments, it can be easy to overlook this essential opportunity to recharge your batteries. To maintain your balance and wellbeing, it is crucial to prioritise self-care now so you are ready for the coming term.

Planning is the key to a successful break. By allocating specific study hours each day, you can ensure there is ample time left over for relaxation, exercise, and socialising.

The ACE Framework

Remember to incorporate ACE into your daily routine to stay grounded:

  • Achievement: Completing a task, no matter how small.
  • Connection: Engaging with friends, family, or your community.
  • Enjoyment: Doing something purely for fun or pleasure.

Tips for a Restorative Break

  • Rejuvenate: Incorporate activities that refresh your mind and body, such as going for walks, practising mindfulness, or engaging in a favourite hobby.
  • Prioritise Sleep: Quality rest is vital to support cognitive function and boost your memory and recall.
  • Fuel Your Body: Stay hydrated and nourish yourself with nutritious food to sustain your energy levels throughout the day.
  • Set Realistic Goals: Manage your time effectively by being honest about what you can achieve.

Remember: taking breaks is not only permissible, it is essential for productivity and mental clarity. By nurturing both your academic and personal needs, you will approach Term 3 with a refreshed and focused mindset.
