Busy bees on campus

Spring at ÌÇÐÄTV | Episode one

We’re buzzing to share the first episode of Spring at ÌÇÐÄTV! Local pollinator expert Steven Falk joins us to talk about the different species of bees, their vital role in our ecosystem, and what we're doing to help them thrive at ÌÇÐÄTV.

Steven’s top tips for helping bees at home:

  • If you have a balcony or garden, aim to plant like Crocus, Lavender, Geraniums, Catmint and Honeysuckle.
  • Aim to have a sequence of plants flowering during the bees’ life cycle from late February through to October.
  • Create places where bees can nest. Leafcutter and Mason bees like bug hotels, while ground-nesting bees prefer sandy banks and grassy slopes.
  • Record bees via the to help experts understand the distribution and abundance of bees in Britain.
