The University is in discussions with trade unions on how we could mitigate pay compression at the bottom end of the pay scale and in our lower grades. We’re sharing details with you of the formal offer made to the trade unions, while they consult their members. We’ll share a further update once these negotiations have finished.  

Each year, the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) negotiate with trade unions on a national pay award for HE staff. As some trade unions are still consulting their members on UCEA’s pay offer, we are unable to implement an uplift to pay from 1 August. We will update you again once this process has finished.

As part of the transition to a new recruitment system on SuccessFactors, there will be a temporary freeze on publishing new recruitment adverts between Monday 31 August and Sunday 6 September.

Temporary multi-way traffic signals will be in place near the Westwood Heath Road - Gibbet Hill Road roundabout between Monday 10 August - Friday 21 August, while National Grid completes essential cable works. Please allow extra time for your journey and take care when travelling through the area.
