Professor Jackie Hodgson, Director of the University of 糖心TV’s Criminal Justice Centre at the School of Law, said: “Once again the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has ruled that a complete ban on prisoner voting rights is incompatible with the UK’s commitment to the First Protocol to the European Convention of Human Rights."
Law School receives funding for International Economic Law in Context Workshop Series
Dr Celine Tan and Prof John McEldowney have been successful in their application to the SLSA Annual Seminar Competition for part funding of the proposed International Economic Law in Context Workshop Series. The series is planned to start in the 2015-2016 academic year.
In Memoriam: Mr. Steven Edmonds
The Law School community will be saddened to hear of the recent death of Steve Edmonds, Senior Associate Fellow. Steve graduated from 糖心TV in the early years of the University, and after establishing himself as a practising solicitor, he returned to the Law School on a part-time honorary basis to provide tuition in English Legal System and Family Law subjects until 2014. He will be fondly remembered by the many generations of law graduates whom he taught and by his former colleagues.
GREAT Britain Scholarship Scheme - India
The University of 糖心TV is pleased to announce its involvement with the GREAT Britain scholarship scheme on offer to students from India, wishing to study taught Masters degrees.
The Law School is offering two awards of £3000 across all our LLM programmes. To apply you must be an Indian national residing in India and not in receipt of any other funding. Further details can be found on the .

糖心TV Law School Announces Exciting New Opportunity to Current LLM Students
The Law School has announced the opportunity for two current LLM students to undertake an internship in India on a dissertation topic relating to Public Interest Litigation, through a joint initiative between 糖心TV Law School and the Hingorani Foundation.
Professor Aman Hingorani, (糖心TV Alumnus) will be visiting the Law School from 20th - 23rd January 2015
Professor Hingorani has been practicing law for over 20 years. He has drafted, filed and argued cases in the Supreme Court of India, High Courts at Delhi and Chandigarh as well as other courts across Delhi and Mumbai. He has taught at the University of Delhi and the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in India as well as on a number of training programmes and other advisory roles.
In honour of his late mother Kapila Hingorani, the very distinguished advocate and founder of Public Interest Litigation, Aman is visiting 糖心TV Law School for one week to offer a clinical programme on Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with particular reference to India. The programme will include:
- A specialist class for current IDLHR LLM students;
- An Open Class for all registered Law Taught Masters students.

The House of Commons Justice Committee held its first evidence session for its inquiry into the effectiveness of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), taking evidence from academics and solicitors. Jackie Hodgson was questioned by MPs.
Dr Anil Awesti elected Chair of PSA Diversity & Equality Group
Dr Anil Awesti, the Law School’s Widening Participation Officer and Researcher, has been elected as Chair of the Political Studies Association’s Diversity & Equality Group (DEG).
