Luke Bosworth
Luke joined the Institute for Employment Research (IER) as a Computer Officer in November 2008 and is now a Senior Project Assistant (Computing). He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and specialises in accessing, collating, matching, and analysing large datasets, primarily in the areas of labour market information and forecasting.
He designs and develops programs in R, Python, SPSS, and STATA to analyse and manipulate diverse datasets, including large-scale microdata such as the Labour Force Survey and the European Labour Force Survey. Luke has contributed to a range of high-profile projects, including Working Futures, the CEDEFOP Pan-European Forecasting Model, and LMI for All.
With a strong interest in Big Data, he explores its potential to supplement or replace traditional data sources for labour market intelligence and forecasting. In addition to his analytical work, Luke provides high-level IT support, produces promotional materials for the IER, and assists in disseminating research findings as part of the Communications and Engagement team.
