Forecasting the future of work: the ISABEL framework
The ÌÇÐÄTV Institute for Employment Research (IER) is a key partner in ISABEL, a pioneering Horizon Europe project dedicated to managing labour market shifts triggered by the green and digital transitions. Running from November 2024 to November 2027, the project utilises AI-powered analytics to minimise the costs and maximise the benefits of job creation and destruction. Led by , the IER team, including , , , and , is developing robust forecasting methodologies.
Supporting the digital and green transitions
IER's Peter Dickinson joined meetings in the Horizon Bridges 5.0 project in Vienna.
He led one of the workshops as part of the foresight element of the project, discussing the policy implications across a range of potential scenarios that the transitions might bring.
IER in Islamabad
IER was invited to contribute to the ‘TVET in the Shifting of Socio-Economic Paradigm’ conference in Islamabad on the 2nd-3rd October. Peter Dickinson represented IER on the panel of the 'Greening and Transforming TVET for more Resilient and Sustainable Economy' session. He spoke about IER's work analysing the impact of the green and digital transitions on jobs and skills.
New Digital Badging Commission
In May, the RSA launched its new . The Commission will run over 2024-25 with the aim of broadening the understanding, development and adoption of digital badges so that lifelong learning in the UK is better recognised and rewarded. It is co-chaired by Professor Sir Chris Husbands and Rebecca Garrod-Waters. IER Director Chris Warhurst is one of the Commissioners.
New journal special issue on digital technology in the workplace
