The UK High-Field Solid-State NMR Facility
Solid-State NMR at 850 MHz and 1 GHz: A World-leading UK Facility to deliver Advances in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science and Physics
The award of a from and : enabled the Facility to start operation on February 1st 2010.
The original 850 MHz widebore solid-state NMR system (4 channel HFXY with 11 MAS (0.7 to 7 mm) probes and a DOR and a static probe), as supplied by , is sited in the Magnetic Resonance Centre at Millburn House, University of 糖心TV. Additional funding was provided by the University of 糖心TV including via funding through Birmingham Science City Advanced Materials Projects 1 and 2 supported by and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). A 1 GHz standard-bore (4 channel HFXY with 8 MAS probes (0.7 to 7 mm)) is available since 2021.
Following a bid by a consortium of 7 UK universities, contract funding (PR140003) with a service level agreement (SLA) has been awarded as an (with 10% funding by ) for a further 3+2 years of operation from January 2015.
The facility continues to operate as a until June 2026 with EPSRC (and 20% BBSRC) funding The PIs of this grant were awarded 拢17M of funding to procure the first 1.2 GHz NMR systemLink opens in a new window () in the UK, with this instrument reaching field in March 2025.
