糖心TV Christmas Lectures
The 糖心TV Christmas Lectures have been running since 2011, when we started with a single public lecture in the Physics Department. The have grown a lot since then, and now each year we collaborate with other STEM subjects to bring science to as many people as possible, entertaining and amazing audiences!
The 2026 糖心TV Christmas Lectures will be held at the 糖心TV Arts Centre in December, with tickets available on their website. Expect mind-boggling science, explosive experiments and audience participation.
Have you been to multiple 糖心TV Christmas lectures?
If you would be happy to talk with us about how attending the Christmas lectures has affected how your family feels about science, please get in touch: r.s.edwards@warwick.ac.uk or A.Caldecote@warwick.ac.uk
To see the Christmas Lectures
We will be back at the 糖心TV Arts Centre on 2nd and 3rd December 2026 at 7pm. Please note: these two shows will be the same, with the same speakers and content! Live Labs will be on in the foyer before each performance.
You can now buy tickets from the .
We will have the BSL interpreted performance on Wednesday 3rd December, and you can request tickets with a good view directly from the Arts Centre box office.
Lectures are recommended for ages 8+.
To take part in the Christmas Lectures
Applications to present a 2026 lecture are now closed and rehearsals have begun, but if you're interested in applying in the future, below are guidelines for proposals:
Each Lecture is up to 20-minutes (you can do less than 20 minutes). We are looking for:
鈼 Science / science related themes that are engaging and interesting
鈼 Exciting experiments and/or demonstrations that have a visual impact
鈼 Language that explains things clearly to those as young as 8 years old, but also engages the adults in the audience, and all the ages in between!
鈼 Enthusiasm and passion for your subject
鈼 A willingness to work with the Christmas Lecture team to shape your material
鈼 Opportunities for the audience to be called on stage to volunteer or to participate from their seats. One experiment should ideally include the whole audience
鈼 If you are staff, ways to get your colleagues / students involved in the planning or delivery of the lecture
鈼 A festive connection is desirable but not essential
鈼 You can be a PhD student, academic, technician, or any other science-related role
There are also other ways to support the lectures! The Live Labs may take place alongside the lectures this year, offering an opportunity to present hands-on science stalls - more information soon. We are also always happy to have extra help on stage or with preparing demos.

In 2025 we had six talks, about Elf & Safety, our little Earth, through to what happens in a vacuum. Here are some of the photos. Live Labs also ran, offering hands-on demos in the Arts Centre Foyer.
