How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

The UK Space Agency, under the national space technology programme, invites applications for its grants for exploratory ideas. These aim to develop the capability of the UK space sector by providing seed funding for early-stage innovative ideas. Project proposals are sought for space technology research and development projects in areas including early technology readiness level innovation, technology proof of concept, small technology developments, establishing new industrial research collaborations, market studies, or studies into spin in or out of technologies for space. Acceptable activities also include:

•new technology concepts;

•knowledge transfer;

•skills development;

•refining an idea.

Project proposals must show how the grant will make a difference to UK space technology capability, in addition to its value to the bidder.

UK HEIs, other research organisations, SMEs and industry organisations may apply. Organisations new to space technology are particularly encouraged to participate. Industry-industry and industry-academia collaborations are also encouraged, and there is no restriction on which type of organisation can lead.

Grants are worth up to £10,000 each for up to three months.

EOI deadline 30th September for 24-25 October Board meeting.

In order for a new, major project to be considered for funding by STFC, a Statement of Interest (SoI) describing the proposed project and detailing the full economic cost of the proposed programme, must be submitted for evaluation. Guidelines and the Statement of Interest proforma can be found below.

The consideration of a Statement of Interest (SoI) is the first step in the STFC review of any major, new proposal. An SoI may be submitted to signify the intention to submit a full proposal.

SoIs may include:
•Participation in new experiments or missions
•The further development of existing high priority experiments or missions
•The development of new instruments
•New detectors or accelerator technologies
•Upgrades to existing detectors
•The purchase of new, or upgrades to, existing major high performance computing facilities
•New initiatives in the field of e-science, modelling and data management

SoIs are considered by the Science Board and can be submitted at any time. Where appropriate, the Accelerator Strategy Board will also consider the SoI.

If Science Board recommends that a full proposal should be invited following the consideration of the SoI, this will be reviewed by the STFC's Projects Peer Review Panel (PPRP).

The overall goal of the REinforcing Women In REsearch (REWIRE) COFUND Programme, a Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions COFUND project funded by the European Commission, is to establish a support scheme for excellent postdoctoral female researchers to foster their scientific development, to nurture their expertise and to make a profound impact on their future careers. The Programme aims to address statistics published in the European Commission's "She Figures 2015" which clearly demonstrate that women are under-represented in academic careers.

What we offer:
A 36-month fellowship in any discipline
A highly competitive programme supporting you in your academic career progression and becoming a mentor for future female researchers
Working at the largest research and education institution in Austria
The chance to live in Vienna - the city with the highest quality of life in the world for 10 years in a row!

In addition to your individual research project and customised career development plan, you will be encouraged to:

Be part of and build upon an enhanced research network
Participate in non-research oriented training programmes
Develop transferable skills
Gain international exposure through publications in high-profile journals
