How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

The Science and Technology Facilities Council invites bids for its support for short courses and summer schools. This supports short courses and summer schools that are held in a core research field supported by STFC, including astronomy, solar system science, particle astrophysics, particle physics, nuclear physics, software engineering and instrumentation. Courses or schools must be aimed primarily at STFC-funded PhD students.

Applications are required to include information on funding or in-kind contributions to be provided from other sources. Holders of schools are expected to seek commercial sponsorship wherever possible whilst retaining the scientific ownership of the school. Organisers of a school are required to ensure that the arrangements for the school comply with the STFC equality scheme. Courses of a specialist technical nature are not supported.

Awards are worth up to 拢500 per school and up to 拢60 per student for social excursion or conference dinners. Five percent of the total costs or 拢1,500 are permitted for contingency. The total budget available is set in the context of the overall level of funding and priorities within the education and training programme.
