糖心TV's UK Research Office in Brussels (UKRO) contact, Blazej Thomas, will lead a series of sessions on Wednesday 15th March which will address a variety of topics, including the impact of Brexit, related to the EU's research funding programme, Horizon 2020. The sessions will be open to academics, researchers and administrators. The programme is:

It is anticipated that EPSRC will fund UK participation in this call.

Thematic scope of proposals should include one or more of the following areas:

  1. Quantum communication
  2. Quantum simulation
  3. Quantum computation
  4. Quantum information sciences
  5. Quantum metrology sensing and imaging
  6. Novel ideas and applications in quantum science and technologies

A two-stage application procedure (pre-proposals and full proposals) will be open for consortia composed of researchers from at least three countries from the call.

Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  1. Excellence,
  2. Impact,
  3. Quality and efficiency of the implementation.

The national/regional eligibility criteria are defined by each participating funding agency.

The anticipated deadline for pre-proposals is 15th of March 2017.

QuantERA aims at spreading research excellence in the whole European Research Area. Therefore, proposal consortia are encouraged to include partners from the widening countries participating in the call: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Turkey

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent research experience and hold a permanent or fixed-term contract in an eligible university or research institute in a partner country, which must span the duration of the project. Collaborations should focus on a single project involving the overseas-based researcher (“the Applicant”) and a UK-based researcher (“the Co-applicant”). Applicants should have not more than 15 years postdoctoral research experience.

The British Academy Newton Advanced Fellowships cover researchers working in all disciplines within the social sciences and humanities. Newton Advanced Fellowships awarded by the British Academy are currently only available for researchers in the following countries:

  • Malaysia

  • Thailand

  • Turkey

The funding available is dependent upon the length of the visit and the partner country. Applicants may request:

  • up to £3,000 for one-off travel lasting up to 3 months
  • up to £6,000 for multiple visits to be completed within 1 year (including a maximum of £1,000 for research expenses)
  • up to £12,000 for multiple visits to be completed within 2 years (including a maximum of £2,000 for research expenses)

In the case of applications with China (NSFC) only, a maximum of £12,000 for multiple visits to be completed within 2 years is available from the Royal Society as a contribution to the following costs:

  • The overseas applicant’s and/or overseas team’s airfare to the UK
  • The overseas applicant’s and/or overseas team’s subsistence whilst in the UK

For partnerships with China , an additional grant is available from NSFC on a cost share basis, to contribute the costs of the collaboration. For further information on the cost share please contact NSFC . Up to £2,000 of the total amount requested from the Royal Society can be spent on research expenses and consumables.
