Departmental Colloquium - X-ray scattering from plasmas
Location: Dr D Riley, Queen's University of Belfast - PLT
Over the last decade, we have being working to develop X-ray scatter as a diagnostic of the microscopic structure of dense plasmas and so called 聭warm dense matter聮. Initially, angularly resolved, spectrally integrated scatter was used as a probe of the spatial correlation in the position of ions in a strongly coupled system. More recently, we have attempted spectrally resolved X-ray Thomson scatter as a means of investigating the temporal fluctuations. In this talk I will outline the experiments we have performed, the work performed elsewhere and the information gained as well as our plans for future work.
