Departmental Colloquium - The status of the International Linear Collider

I will review the physics motivation for the next major accelerator project in particle physics, the International Linear Collider (ILC). I will outline the progress that had been made in the technical design of the project, pointing out the areas of major technological development and the problems that need to be overcome. I will discuss the prospects for the next few years.
