Events in Physics
The Royal Society, under the Global Challenges Research Fund, invites applications for its international collaboration awards. These support international collaboration between research groups in the UK and overseas, with a view to support work on global challenges and problems facing developing countries. This aims to:
鈥upport the development of sustainable collaborative partnerships between researchers in the UK and research groups in developing countries to generate new approaches to the most significant and complex problems faced by developing countries;
鈥trengthen research capacity in developing countries through collaboration, sharing of knowledge and skills and exchange of staff;
鈥ttract international scientists from developing countries and their teams to work with the UK鈥檚 universities and research institutions;
鈥upport the research of the UK scientists working in fields relevant to the global challenges to formulate new approaches to global development problems.
Research must fall within the remit of the Royal Society, which includes natural sciences and engineering.
UK applicants and overseas co-applicants must be established research leaders in their respective fields, with a minimum of eight years of postdoctoral experience and a proven track record in driving research. They must hold salaried positions at a university or not-for-profit research
institution for the duration of the award. Applications must include a country listed by the Development Assistant Committee, or demonstrate benefit to one.
Awards are worth up to 拢75,000 per year for up to three years. Funding covers activities directly relevant to supporting collaboration, including research expenses, travel and subsistence for the applicants or members of their team, salary for research assistance and small pieces of equipment of no more than 拢10,000.
