Full text: The Royal Astronomical Society invites applications for its grants for studies. These support research or study in any area of astronomy or geophysics. Eligible activities include the following: 鈥hose related to the history of astronomy and geophysics;鈥onference or meeting travel subsistence;鈥unding for meeting organising;鈥nstrumentation;鈥bserving and field trips;鈥tudy or research projects;鈥ndergraduate summer bursaries. Fellows of the society may apply. Applications are particularly encouraged from applicants ineligible for grants from the research councils or equivalent overseas bodies and for work, or sums, not normally supported by the councils. Applications should normally be for sums between 拢250 and 拢5,000. Applicants are expected to request matching funding from other sources, and the majority of grants are awarded on the basis of such funding being available.
