The Institute of Physics’ plasma physics group, with the support from the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, invites nominations for the Culham thesis prize. This recognises a candidate who has displayed excellence in the execution of the scientific method, as evidenced by the award of doctor of philosophy in plasma science.

Thesis supervisors may nominate candidates. Each nominee must be an IOP member and must have obtained their PhD at a UK or Irish university. Nominees may be of any nationality. The thesis must have been submitted in the last two calendar years leading up to the nomination deadline.

The award includes a cash prize of £500 and an expenses paid trip, worth up to £500, to the institute’s annual plasma physics conference where successful applicant will be invited to give a talk.
