Innovate UK and Jiangsu Science and Technology Department invite applications for the Jinagsu-UK industrial challenge programme. This supports projects stimulating economic growth in China, specifically the Jiangsu province, and the UK through business-led innovation. Innovations should draw on the capabilities in both countries to address the industrial opportunities and challenges that will shape the markets of the future. Projects are expected to lead to a significant return on investment and have a clear and anticipated impact on business growth. Applications must address one of the following areas:
•innovation in infrastructure systems that address the challenges faced by infrastructure owners, cities, towns and users;
•transformational or disruptive innovation leading to novel, new products, processes or services drawn from any technology, engineering or industrial area.
Projects must be business-led on both sides and involve a collaboration between one business from the UK and one from the Jiangsu province. Both the Chinese and UK sides must submit corresponding applications. The project effort must be balanced between participants from both countries and significant to both project partners. Additional businesses, universities and research centres from both the UK and Jiangsu province may participate as partners.
Up to £5 million is available for UK partners from Innovate UK, to fund between 10 and 15 projects over two years, individual project costs being worth up to £500,000. Jiangsu Science and Technology Department will allocate funding for Jiangsu partners.
