Title: Linking astronomy research into STEM education

Abstract: This talk will look at ways in which astronomical research programmes can be linked to schools education and public outreach programmes, and specifically how robotic telescope facilities such as the Faulkes Telescope Project and National Schools' Observatory have succeeded in doing this. What sorts of projects might be suitable for educational input, and how can you go about engaging wider audiences with your work? We will also look at some examples of excellent, free resources that can be used to enable schools to work with astronomy groups, analysing FITS data etc.
