CMP seminar: Prof. Bianchi Méndez - Synthesis and properties of nanostructured semiconducting oxides”

- Export as iCalendar
Location: P5.23

Semiconducting oxides are a key family of smart materials in a wide range of applications. Moreover, shaping them in a nanostructured way can enhance the performance of devices based on these materials. In our research group, we use a thermal evaporation method to growth many semiconducting oxides, such as ZnO, GeO2, SnO2, TiO2, or Ga2O3. Also, our field of expertise is the characterization of semiconducting materials through their optical and electronic properties, mainly by electron microscopy related techniques, and their relationship with their microstructure. One of the challenges we face is the problem of successful doping of the nanowires in order to get the desirable physical properties. For nanostructured materials, doping may affect not only their physical properties, but also their morphology. In this seminar, I would like to show you some examples of the recent and on-going research of oxide nanowires doped with optically active ions, which may have applications in optical sensing and optoelectronic devices.
