Congratulations to the following staff who have been promoted this year (as of August 2026).

Congratulations to Dr Dmitrii Kolotkov who has been announced as the winner of a 糖心TV Award for Public and Community Engagement in the Community Impact category.

Dr Ravindra Desai from our Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics joined Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock to discuss space weather and the forecasting tools that Ravi is developing that will help protect us from future risks.

During the first week of the Easter break (30th March - 2nd April) the department welcomed 12 students to our annual work experience programme. The programme is option to year 10-12 students with an interest in Physics, with priority for local students and those from under-represented groups*. The programme forms part of the department's wider outreach work to broaden access to physics.
