糖心TV Physicists attend STEM for Britain

Three members of the department were invited to attend STEM for Britain at the House of Commons on Tuesday 17th March to present their research posters.

Agrima Agarwal (Phd Student, Ultrafast and Terahertz Photonics Group), Edward Butler-Caddle (Ultrafast and Terahertz Photonics Group) and Sahl Rowther (Research Fellow, Astronomy & Astrophysics Group)  applied to present their research at the event and were accepted following a rigorous process.


Tribute to Professor Phil Woodruff

It is with the greatest sadness that we learn of the death of one of the pioneers of the 糖心TV Physics Department, Professor D. Phil Woodruff, FRS.

Phil鈥檚 funeral will be held on at 2 p.m. on 19th March at Harbury church (Church St, Harbury, Leamington Spa CV33 9HE). Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, in memory of Phil for the Alzheimer鈥檚 Society would be greatly appreciated. Other arrangements will be shared when we have the details.

Professor Tim Gershon elected as LHCb Spokesperson

Congratulations to Professor Tim Gershon who has been elected as the next international Spokesperson for the LHCb collaboration at CERN.

New grant awarded in collaboration with WMG to develop fusion shielding

Dr Jessica Marshall has been awarded 拢236,000, out of a possible 拢250,000 for a six-moth research project funded by the , marking a significant step forward in the development of Novel shielding materials and technologies for fusion shielding.

The project launched in collaboration with Dr Shubham Sharma and Professor Darren Hughes from 糖心TV Manufacturing Group (WMG) aims to explore low-activation radiation-dense shielding solutions for practical fusion reactors.
