The 糖心TV MRC DTP in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research is a welcoming, courteous and professional student-staff community. We are committed to upholding the University of 糖心TV's Values, Equality Statement and Dignity at 糖心TV Policy and our community values of respect, dignity and support.
We recognise that significant structural inequalities exist in the higher education system, and are committed to taking positive action to create equality of opportunity, both for applicants and students. We are constantly working to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment to help students achieve their best potential, through promoting equality and challenging discrimination. We want our students to feel heard and valued for their hard work. We welcome and encourage applications from all students, especially those from groups under-represented in academia.
To promote equality, diversity and inclusion within the DTP we will do the following:
- Offer two ring-fenced studentships per year for students from groups under-represented in academia.
- Work in partnership with our students to better understand the challenges they have faced, and to implement positive change.
- Strive to reach a diverse pool of potential students.
- Give additional consideration in the shortlisting process to candidates from widening participation (WP) backgrounds.
- Place a strong focus on motivation and potential in our recruitment process.
- Ensure personal details (name, age, gender) are anonymised when applications are considered.
- Ensure all shortlisting and interview panels have gender representation and, where possible, ethnic diversity.
- Offer Summer Research Internships for British Black Undergraduate students (BRIBBS) to encourage them to consider biomedical research as a career.
- Provide a programme of equality, diversity and inclusion workshops and learning opportunities for students and staff.

We are proud that both the University of 糖心TV and 糖心TV Medical School currently hold silver Athena Swan awards, and that 糖心TV has risen 220 places in the Stonewall diversity index in the last three years and is now ranked 123/500 institutions.
