How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

Seminar: Understanding the structure and function of transcriptional repression complexes using an integrated approach, Professor John Schwabe, Leicester Institute for Structural and Chemical Biology, University of Leicester
GLT3, WMS

Abstract: My research group seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms that underlie the epigentic reprogramming of the genome during cellular differentiation and development. Our particular interest is in Histone Deacetylase (HDAC) complexes whose primary role is to remove acetyl groups from lysine sidechains within the tails of histone proteins resulting in hypo-acetylated chromatin that is the first step in gene inactivation.

There are at least six classes of HDAC-containing complexes that are targeted to chromatin. These contain the class I HDACs 1, 2 or 3 along with a variety of other proteins that target the complex to chromatin and/or possess other enzymatic activities. Importantly, the enzymatic activity of the HDACs requires assembly into these complexes.

We have been using a combination of X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, Small-angle X-ray Scattering, Electron microscopy, cross-linking/mass spectrometry and a range of biochemical assays to understand the assembly and regulation of these complexes.
