Bio: Bruno Frenguelli was the Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier Journal, Neuropharmacology from 2011-2024 and before that acted as an Associate Editor from 2006-2011. During his time at Neuropharmacology he handled nearly 3000 manuscripts across a very wide range of topics and article types, from original studies, reviews, commentaries and Editorials.

He introduced a number of quality standards, including requiring full statistical reporting, the provision of individual data points on bar graphs, and providing untruncated images of gels. As Editor-in-Chief he had to deal with a number of sensitive issues around scientific fraud and integrity, including duplicate submission, plagiarism, authorship disputes, allegations of data fabrication and image manipulation, and the use of AI, some of which have led him to retract papers published in Neuropharmacology.

He is now the Editor-in-Chief of another Elsevier journal, Brain and Environment, that he set up and launched at the end of 2024. Bruno Frenguelli is remunerated by Elsevier for his services as Editor-in-Chief of Brain and Environment and previously for Neuropharmacology. He will be speaking in a personal capacity based on his experience of scientific publishing.
