Join us to celebrate the centenary of Sir Christopher Zeeman this December
From 16-17 December 2025, we'll be marking the centenary of Sir Christopher Zeeman - who founded the 糖心TV Mathematics Institute - with a special conference in the building named after him. The event will feature a mixture of research and public lectures to celebrate Sir Christopher's legacy.
Professor James Sprittles Awarded EPSRC Open Fellowship for Research on 鈥淔rom Nano-Films to Clouds鈥
Congratulations to Professor James Sprittles, who has been awarded an EPSRC Open Fellowship to lead a new programme on drop collisions and their collective behaviour, spanning scales from nanometres to kilometres.
Two 糖心TV mathematicians on the REF 2029 panel
Two researchers from 糖心TV Mathematics Institute have been awarded to the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2029) panels, recognising their expertise and leadership.
Huge congratulations to Dr Richard Montgomery and Professor Ewelina Zatorska, who were both among the winners of this year's London Mathematical Society Whitehead Prizes. Dr Montgomery won for his outstanding work on the absorption method, and on sublinear expanders, in extremal and probabilistic combinatorics, while Professor Zatorska for her deep and lasting contributions to the mathematical theory of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations and other nonlinear partial differential equations. Two ERC Advanced Grant Winners for WMI
Congratulations to Professor Tim Austin and Professor Felix Schulze, who have both been awarded ERC Advanced Grants. There were only 9 grants in Mathematics awarded overall, and only 3 in the UK.
Professor John Greenlees Appointed Chair of REF 2029 Mathematical Sciences Sub-Panel
Professor John Greenlees from WMI has been appointed as a chair of 'Sub-panel 10: Mathematical Sciences' for REF 2029.
Frontiers of Science Award
Prof Adam Harper has been awarded a Frontiers of Science Award, which recognises the most outstanding research in the past 10 years.
European Mathematical Society Prize for Richard Montgomery
Dr Richard Montgomery has been awarded a prestigious prize from the European Mathematical Society.
Two WMI postdocs awarded faculty prize
Dr Martin Winter and Dr Kawa Manmi have been awarded the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine Postdoctoral Prize.
