Scientists Solve Mystery of World-Traveling Plant
The bottle gourd is used by cultures all over the world to make lightweight containers and other tools. But how did the plant make the jump from its original home in Africa to the New World with an ocean in the way?
Visiting seed scientist from China
For the next year the Finch-Savage Group are hosting Dr Anjun Tang, an Associate Professor in the College of Life Sciences, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing, China. Dr. Tang’s research is in the area of seed dormancy and germination with particular interest in ecological adaptation of these processes in endangered plant species. He will be joining Dr Steve Footitt and Dr. Sajjad Awan in investigating the impact of climate change and abiotic stress on seed production and dormancy.
