16 School of Engineering Researchers in the top 2% of the world’s leading academics
Congratulations to the 19 School of Engineering researchers who have been named in Stanford University’s global Scientists list recognising the top 2% of the world’s leading researchers released on 16th October 2020 in the journal PLOS Biology. The article can be found . The names of the researchers listed were obtained from University staff listings that can be accessed and searched online.
Academics were classified into 176 subject fields using the Science-Metrix journal classification system. Led by Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University, the research team has created a database of about 160,000 top academics of the world, derived from a worldwide total of 6.88M scientists who have published at least five papers. The researchers were given a ‘c score’ based on standardised citation indicators, which include information on citations, an individual’s research output or H-index, co-authorship, and a composite indicator for career-long impact. The goal was that this database was comprehensive and that it takes into account a large number of scientific fields.
