The Doctoral College
From scholarships and researcher development to networking events and guidance on supervision and thesis submission - we aim to support you throughout your whole PhD.
CADRE
The Centre for Arts Doctoral Research Excellence is the Faculty's doctoral training hub. As an Arts PGR, you have automatic access to all CADRE events and resources.
The Library and the Modern Records Centre
You'll find more than books at the library. The library has a range of online courses and resources to support your research, as does the MRC.
Researcher Development
There are a range of workshops, events, and programmes to help you develop as a researcher, organised by the Doctoral College, CADRE, Library, and other parts of the university.
Pre-Modern Handwriting and Research Skills Training
The Centre for the Study of the Renaissance offers palaeography classes and workshops in their From Manuscript to Print programme. There are also some external courses that you may find helpful.
Digital Humanities and Digital Skills
The Digital Humanities Team and the Centre for Digital Inquiry offer support for a wide range of different tools and approaches that may help your research project. The Faculty of Arts also hosts the Digital Arts and Humanities Lab, which offers a certificate in Digital Humanities.
Funding and Travel Information
Need to travel to conduct research, or have other expenses? Find out about how the department can help to support research costs, and the procedure to follow if you are planning to travel as part of your research degree.
Postdoctoral Opportunities
The department will support you to find opportunities to continue with your research after the PhD.
