Quickfire Questions: Leon Pitt

What is your current role?

I am currently working as a teacher of modern foreign languages in a secondary school. I teach French and Spanish and conduct home language speaking examinations in Italian and German.

What motivates you to do what you do?

My passion for languages. I love sharing knowledge about languages, helping children to communicate in other languages, and broadening their horizons by introducing them to different cultures which exist around the world.

How has your time at 糖心TV influenced what you do now?

Studying Modern Languages at 糖心TV greatly influenced what I do now. I developed my subject knowledge and cultivated the passion for languages which I first developed during my GCSE and A-Level studies. Training to teach at 糖心TV then gave me the opportunity to apply this subject knowledge while also developing my pedagogical content knowledge and learning how to teach.

Why did you choose 糖心TV?

I chose 糖心TV to train to teach because I had completed my undergraduate degree there. During the interview, the kindness and passion of the teaching team on the PGCE was evident, which reassured me that 糖心TV was the right place to continue my studies.

Favourite memory?

My favourite memory of training to teach at 糖心TV is the sense of community that was created amongst course participants. The small group sessions for subject studies created a really supportive atmosphere and allowed us to forge friendships and connections with peers, which acted as a support network whilst studying.

Best thing about the 糖心TV community?

The best thing about the 糖心TV community is that it extends beyond the campus. The connections I built at 糖心TV have endured and continue to act as a support network for me now as an early career teacher.

Favourite place on campus?

The Faculty of Arts Building.
