Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) - digital permission to travel for visitors
This means, if you are a national of one of the and travelling to the UK for visits of up to 6 months or transiting the UK by passing UK Border Control, you must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travelling. Once you are in the UK, you will be entering on a Visit Visa. A Visit Visa will allows you to stay up to a maximum of 6 months in the UK.

A decision should be made within three working days, and if granted, it will be issued electronically. An email containing a 16-digit ETA reference number will be sent to you once approved.
The ETA is linked to the passport, so you must use the same passport when travelling. The ETA is valid for two years or until the expiry of your passport, whichever is sooner. You can enter multiple times during its validity.
