Testing Behavioural and Economic Interventions for Sustainable Environmental Practices and Inclusive Community Development

Project outline
The study could investigate how different interventions such as financial incentives, information provision, social norms, behavioural nudges, community-based approaches or changes in access to resources affect environmentally and socially significant behaviours. Examples could include waste management, conservation, sustainable agricultural practices, energy use, water management, climate adaptation, household livelihoods or participation in community development initiatives.
Research Questions
The Economics priority could address questions such as:
- Which interventions most effectively change environmentally and socially important behaviours?
- How do financial incentives, information, social norms and institutional arrangements influence individual and community decisions?
- What are the economic and social costs and benefits of alternative interventions?
- Do interventions produce equitable benefits across different socioeconomic groups and contexts?
- How can successful interventions be scaled and translated into policy and practice?
