Your Feedback Matters

Your feedback matters鈥

Every month we receive feedback from the campus community via our satisfaction surveys, completed in our cafes via tablets and QR codes and every month we review these and make changes to improve things where we can. You can read below some examples of the key themes we have heard through these surveys, and what we have done to try and address them.

With Eatwise rolling out across campus, you鈥檝e noticed a range of cheaper and healthier options are now available and they鈥檙e widely appreciated, in particular our 拢2.99 hot meals such as the homemade Dahl and chapati, Popcorn Cauliflower and Macaroni Cheese

We鈥檙e so pleased that you鈥檙e enjoying these new dishes, our aim has been to provide the campus community with hot lunch options that are under 拢3 that are nutritious, hearty and comforting 鈥 and made fresh on campus!

Alternative milks are free of charge and you are very pleased that this is the case

We鈥檙e really pleased that this is appreciated amongst our community, we want our hot drinks range to be as accessible as possible, we plan to keep alternative milks free of charge.

The new oat milk we switched to recently was NOT a hit!

We changed our oat milk to a gluten free version back in Term 1 25/26, to remove an allergen from the coffee offering but we heard you, the quality was not the best! We've since changed back to the original brand we were using. We would still like to move a gluten free option, we鈥檙e in the process of looking for something out there that is the equivalent quality of our current oat milk and gluten free too.

The staff are so friendly and make us feel really welcome

We think so too! And we鈥檙e so happy to hear from you about the great work they鈥檙e doing. When staff are regularly praised in our customer survey, we recognise and celebrate them in our Star of the Month awards.

Soup in Eatwise cafes comes with one slice of bread, charging 50p for an extra slice is expensive and not well communicated

We source a high-quality sourdough that has no nasties in it, tastes fabulous and keeps you fuller for longer. Because of this, it costs us more to buy, hence why we charge for an extra slice (the first slice being included in the price of the soup at 拢2.99). We agree though that we haven鈥檛 communicated the extra cost well, so we will be introducing some signage next to the soup serving spaces in our cafes to help make it clear from the outset.

The Sandwich range has too much white bread and not enough brown

we hear you, we鈥檝e reviewed our sandwich range and have now removed all sliced white bread from the sandwich options, replacing this with wholemeal or 50/50 bread. To ensure that we have a broad range to suit all tastes, our baguettes will be white.

Some of your meals are priced too highly

We do our best to price our dishes as low as possible whilst also seeking to cover our costs and make the small profit that is required of us. Our sandwich range (freshly made on campus) starts from 拢2.25. Our hot food range starts from 拢2.99, this includes products like homemade Soup and sourdough bread, Dahl and chapati, Popcorn Cauliflower, Macaroni Cheese, Beef Burger, Chicken Wings and Jacket Potato with Beans. We try to ensure that dishes at this lower range also have options to 'add' items or toppings for a bit more money, to allow for variety where people can afford to spend a little more. We want to offer a range of meals for all budgets and tastes, so there will be some dishes that are priced at 拢7.99 or 拢8.99 but these are in the minority.

In the caf茅 I go to the food is always the same

In order to minimise food waste and work as efficiently as possible, we work to a menu rotation of two weeks for each of our outlets that serve hot food, with dishes changing daily across a 2-week period. What you might find, is if you always come to campus on the same day each week, you'll tend to the see the same dishes on the menu on that day. Where possible, we recommend that you visit some of our other outlets across campus, as we're working to offer a diverse range of cuisines and dishes across out campus outlets. Why not visit District in WBS for some pan-Asian inspired food one week, then pop into Caf茅 Library for some comforting Macaroni cheese with your choice of toppings the next week? You can check out all the options on campus here.Link opens in a new window

Why do we have to pay for sauce sachets?

The reason we were charging for sachets was that we tended to find that people took more than they needed (and once they have been taken, even if unopened, we have to put them in the bin for food safety reasons) they are also bad for the environment and go straight to landfill, creating a lot of waste. We鈥檙e pleased to say that we will be rolling out sauce bottles / dispensers across our outlets in Term one of 2026-27. We won鈥檛 be charging for sauces once these are launched (subject to fair use). The transition will be staggered across outlets as ensure we use up the current stock of sachets..

The vegan sausages are dry

We鈥檝e taken a look and agree that the vegan sausages dry out quickly when hot-held on our food counters, we鈥檙e working on sourcing a new vegan sausage to rectify this. There鈥檚 nothing worse than a disappointing sausage.

Nutritional information on your campus-made products would be really useful

We agree! We鈥檙e pleased to say that from Term 1 2026_27, nutritional and ingredient information for all products served in Eatwise outlets can be found on our online system here. If you have any food allergies, please ensure you let a team member know when ordering or purchasing food.
