Using AI to help with job descriptions and person specifications 鈥 to create a vacancy advertisement
A job website will always ask for the factual basics, like a closing date. But it's the descriptive sections 鈥 like the Person Specification 鈥 that attract the right candidates, and these can be time-consuming to write, especially with character limits.
AI can help by turning your rough notes into well-written, formatted advert text, ready for you to review and tweak. We鈥檝e written and tested some clear instructions for you, so that you鈥檒l get exactly what you need to create a Vacancy on our myAdvantage jobs portal.
Step 1: Open your chosen AI assistant, e.g. ChatGPT or Co-Pilot and give our pre-written instructions (鈥減rompt鈥)
Highlight everything in 鈥楾ask Instructions鈥, then Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the task instructions into your AI.

I want to recruit a University of 糖心TV student. The University鈥檚 online portal requires me to complete specific fields in order to publish my advert. I do not need help creating text for

AI is only as good as the information it has to work with, and you should always sense-check its suggestions before using them. The wording in your company鈥檚 job advert is your company鈥檚 legal responsibility, regardless of who drafted or published it. This includes making sure it is not false/misleading, correctly reflects the responsibilities, qualifications, and technical expertise required, is inclusive (you can paste it into a to do this) and complies with UK labour laws. In addition, that the advert reflects your company values to attract the right candidates and not risk significantly reducing the talent pool.
