Discussion: Decision making with noisy information

One of the enduring challenges in judgement and decision making under uncertainty is to detect or estimate the signal when there is noisy information. Mistaking noise for signal can entail undesirable consequences. In this seminar, Adam and Chengwei will give an overview of this topic before moderating an open discussion. In particular, they will start from the sim-ple case - signal detection theory and describe how the solution changes as assumptions about the signal and noise change, illustrating the concepts by examples drawn from their own research in psychology and business.
