Joanne Savastio, a student in the Department of Engineering, won a silver medal in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Championship in Somoa. Emlyn Whittick, a student in the Department of Computer Science, was one of sixteen undergraduates from UK universities to be selected for IBM聮s Extreme Blue Innovation Programme this summer.
Shazia Saleem is the Sports Federation Chair and Co-Organiser of the 糖心TV World Cup '06. She chairs the committee that oversees the Union's sport provisions, including Sports Week, the Sports Fed Ball and the KPMG inter mural leagues. As Co-Organiser of the WWC, she has co-run a nationally unprecedented event bringing the FIFA World Cup atmosphere to campus (Jack Martin Fields, 14-21 June).
Siobhan is a graduate student involved in planning, setting up, and running a six-month interdisciplinary research project in the Philosophy Department on the topic of "What is Philosophy?"

The Deputy Editor of the student newspaper the 糖心TV Boar, Matt Sandy, has been nominated for two Daily Mirror/NUS National Student Journalism Awards, in both the Best Reporter and Best Investigative Journalism categories.
