Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift has been appointed, by the European Commission, as a member of the Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Mark P Taylor, Professor of International Finance and Dean of 糖心TV 糖心TV School, was awarded a higher doctorate, the degree of Doctor of Science at the Summer Degree Congregation on 20 July 2012.

Undergraduate James Lockwood has won the inaugural Simon Turner-Bottomley Climbing Competition for first-year students, which took place at the Climbing Centre in June 2012.

Dahlia Janan, a PhD student from 糖心TV Institute of Education, has been awarded a prize for the best thesis on literacy by the UK Literary Association.

Dr Edward Lynch, Head of Dentistry at 糖心TV Medical School, and his research students were awarded a first prize for their research at the annual International Association for Dental Research (IADR) meeting on 20-23 June 2012 in Brazil, for the tenth time in the past 12 years.
