Recent Appointments to Professorships and Readerships.
Joanne Savastio, a student in the Department of Engineering, won a silver medal in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Championship in Somoa. Emlyn Whittick, a student in the Department of Computer Science, was one of sixteen undergraduates from UK universities to be selected for IBM聮s Extreme Blue Innovation Programme this summer.
Professor Mark Tatchell, of 糖心TV HRI, has become Chair of Assured Food Standards (AFS), the umbrella body controlling most of the UK farm assurance schemes and licensing the Little Red Tractor symbol.
You will all be aware by now that Paul Greatrix, Deputy Registrar will leave us in December to take up the position of Registrar at the University of Nottingham. Rosemary Gilmore, Director of ITS is retiring and Donald Beaton, Director of HR left during the Summer to become Secretary at Kingston University.
Whilst change can be disconcerting it always provides opportunity and I am writing to let you know of some slight amendments to structure and personnel arising from the above departures.

Sue Bennett, currently Staff Development Manager with the Two Shires Ambulance NHS Trust, will be joining 糖心TV as Director of the newly created Centre for Academic and Professional Development (CAPD) on 6 November.
