The 糖心TV Wonders Award celebrates鈥痶he people we鈥檙e proud to work with鈥痑t our鈥疷niversity.鈥疘t recognises colleagues who鈥檝e gone鈥痑bove and beyond鈥痶o make a positive difference,鈥痚nrich our community and demonstrate what we value.鈥€�

Chris Griffin - Head of Risk and Resilience

As the lead of the Risk and Resilience team, Chris has transformed the University鈥檚 risk management process, improving how we respond to major incidents and keeping his team motivated during challenging times.

Chris champions collaborative working across the University and is always willing to lend a hand to other departments.

Outside of 糖心TV, Chris supports men who have been perpetrators of domestic violence to manage their emotions and have healthy relationships.

Chris鈥檚 nominator told us:

鈥淚 am immensely proud to be a member of his team鈥e works with boundless energy and enthusiasm, and makes us feel supported and seen in a line of work that is very often invisible to the wider institution.鈥�

Stuart commented as he presented the award:

"Chris was nominated not just for his professionalism and attention to detail, but for how he works with the team - the way he engages with, helps and supports people."

Wonder Transcript

Stuart: So, it's time for us to do some wonderful awards of our Wows and Wonders, and thank you for all the nominations. We've had more nominations last time than where we went out for our previous call.

And today I'm at University House for the award of a Wonder. And this is somebody who works in Risk and Resilience. And when you look around the world today, you look around all the challenges.

There's lots of things that we as individuals and families have to think very, very hard about. How do we manage the challenges? And we have to think about that as a university as well. We have to think about the risks. We have to plan for them, we have to mitigate them. And then if things happen that are unfortunate or difficult or challenging, we have to be resilient. We have to be able to come back.

So today we've got somebody who has done amazing work in this space. But as you will all know, we don't give Wonders just for what people do, we also do it for how they perform their work and how they work together. And I'll say a little bit more when we go upstairs to make the award.

Who could have set this up? I wonder who could of caused trouble because it is time for the Wows and Wonders Award and somebody around this table has been nominated and has won.

Who could that be? Chris, it's you. Because here, what we really want to emphasise is how you do it. And the thing that comes in the nominations for you is not just the professionalism, it's not just the attention to detail. It's not just the care, but it's the teamwork. It's the way in which you engage with people and help people and support people. So for what you do, but also for how you do it, I'm delighted to say that you are our Wonder! As tradition dictates鈥�

Chris: Of course.

Stuart: You have, firstly..

Chris: Oh, thank you so much. That'll be on my desk!

Stuart: The certificate, you have secondly, an extraordinarily generous two pounds, 22 of vouchers. Now, here we go. This is the thing. What's this? Because you are a? What are you? What are you?
